5 ways to help your child build a connection with the Quran -

Are you looking for ways to encourage your children to read the Quran? As a parent, it is important to instill a love for the Quran in your children at an early age. Starting a child’s Quran journey in a positive way enhances the child’s learning experience and motivates them to learn more. Here are 5 ways to help your child build a connection with the Quran.

1) Start their Quran journey from a young age

Teaching your children to read the Quran from a young age can help them develop a strong connection with the Quran. Try and get them to learn short surahs from early childhood. As they grow up, their bond with the Quran will also grow insha Allah.

2) Make Quran reading part of their daily routine

Another way to encourage children to read the Quran is to make it a part of their daily routine. This could involve setting aside a specific time each day for them to read such us in the morning after breakfast or in the afternoon. You can also get them to read their short surahs before going to bed. Having consistency will help make reading the Quran a habit and allow your children to develop a regular practice of engaging with it.

3) Use different methods

You may have seen the viral video of this father creating challenges for his two sons while in their car. We need to make the experience fun and engaging for our children just like this father did. Whether it be through competitions like the example in the above video, Quran games or TV programs, you will help your children develop a positive association with reading the Quran and make it something they look forward to each day.

4) Incentives and rewards

In addition to making the experience fun, you can also provide incentives or rewards for children whenever they achieve or reach an important milestone (e.g. memorising a certain number of pages/juz). This could be something as simple as allowing them to choose a special activity or treat. By providing a reward for their efforts, you will help motivate your children to continue their journey with the Quran and make it a priority in their daily lives.

5) Be their role model

Children look up to their parents. It is important to lead by example and demonstrate the importance of the Quran to your children. Show them how reading the Quran is a valuable part of your own daily routine and encourage them to follow in your footsteps. By doing so, you will help your children understand the significance of the Quran and inspire them to develop their own relationship with it.

Insha Allah the above tips will help you and your child. May Allah allow our children to connect with the Quran. Ameen
