4 ways to take your hifdh to the next level -

If you or your children have embarked on the blessed journey of learning the beautiful words of Allah, why not take your learning to the next level? Here are three things we did to improve our recitation and strengthen our hifdh:

1. Improve your Tajweed

When reciting the Quran, it’s essential to pronounce each letter correctly, as even the slightest mistake can alter the meaning of a word. Take, for example, the letters س (seen) and ص (saad). Many people struggle with the letter ص, often pronouncing it like a س.

To improve your makharij (pronunciation), start by listening to reciters like Sheikh Husary or Sheikh Minshawy. Pay close attention to how they articulate each letter and try to mimic their recitation. Repetition is key—listen and repeat as much as possible to internalize the correct pronunciation.

2. Have a Quran teacher

Having a teacher is crucial in your Quranic journey. As parents, especially if we are teaching our children the Quran ourselves, it’s essential to find a qualified teacher.

A teacher not only helps with tajweed but also provides guidance in many other areas. They can identify and correct all your mistakes during recitation, teaching you how to adjust the position of your tongue to achieve the proper articulation points.

Additionally, a teacher will instruct you in the etiquette of the Quran. They’ll share valuable insights, such as where it is permissible to pause in long verses. These are just a few of the many benefits of having a knowledgeable teacher by your side.

3. Make revision a priority

If you or your children are memorizing the Quran, never underestimate the importance of revision. It’s better to memorize small portions consistently and keep up with revision than to memorize large sections only to forget them due to neglecting revision. With consistent revision, insha’Allah, you will make fewer mistakes and strengthen your hifdh over time.

4. Establish a Routine

Consistency is key in your Quranic journey. Establishing a regular routine for recitation and memorization can make a significant difference in your progress. Set aside specific times each day for the Quran, and stick to this schedule as closely as possible. A well-structured routine not only helps with memorization but also builds a stronger connection with the Quran.

We hope these tips helpful. Remember, this journey is not just about memorizing verses—it’s about deepening your understanding and connection with the words of Allah. May Allah bless your efforts and make the Quran a light in your lives.
